Media literacy and traditional literacy skills are linked because media literacy uses the same traditonal reading and comprehensions skills but simply adds the need for the ability to locate resources and assess content.
"Researchers find that reading for understanding online requires the same skills as offline reading, including using prior knowledge and making predictions, plus a set of additional critical-thinking skills that reflect the open-ended, continually changing online context."
I selected this quote because I think it is very interesting that using computers and online content is just as effective as reading off of a hard copy. One of my biggest concerns with technology is that children will lose their ability to read and write correctly. With this information, however, I am content to know that they are using the same skills and will not lack in those areas.

This is what I feel our world is coming to with technology. But, after reading the article, I feel much more confident about the good things technology can do, rather than the bad.
