Double Entry Journal 11- "Thinking Creatively: Teachers as Designers of Content, Pedagogy & Technology"

The first thing I learned that I found very interesting was what they said about teaching.  It is very imperative that people be aware that just because you are an expert at something, it doesn't make you a teacher.  It takes a lot more to teach.  Teaching is "the act of learning to think in a disciplined manner."  It makes me think harder about becoming a teacher and what it entails other than just learning the subject.

The second thing I found interesting was how pedagogy and content are very messy.  It's not really something you consider a priority, but it's a very true statement.  And I agree with them that integrating technology could help make this problem a little less messy.

The last thing I found very cool is what they said about software.  When new information is developed in science, opinions changed, or new things added to a curriculum, the authors of a particular science book must sit down and write the next edition of the book, including all the updated information.  With software, however, to add something, all you need are codes.  This could save a lot of time, money, and energy that could be used in much better ways.
